About Us
Founded in 2000 Counter Editions commissions and produces prints and multiples by leading contemporary artists. Working with leading printers such as Thumbprint Press, Coriander Studios, K2 Screen, and Goldenshot, we produce exclusive editions in close collaboration with the artist.
Since the inception of Counter Editions we have become the UK's leading website for buying contemporary art. We have worked with over 25 leading artists, including five Turner Prize winners, and we have collaborated with major institutions such as the Serpentine Gallery and the Hayward Gallery. We currently co-publish editions with the Tate galleries, while the editions have been purchased by numerous international collections including the Museum of Modern Art, New York, Kunstmuseum Zurich, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and the British Council.
What the Papers Say
'Many companies promise ordinary mortals like us access to the rarefied world of art collecting, but until now nobody has actually delivered the right quality at the right price. The people behind Counter Editions have all been involved with the art world for the last ten years, and have forged bonds with the artists we want to own. The Counter Editions team agree that the three benchmarks of their company are "trust, quality, and consistency", and the dazzling quality of the results speaks for themselves.' The Independent
'The super-trendy art website.' GQ
'Counter Editions is the best of the online art publishers. Customers receive signed, numbered and dated prints that have been created in close collaboration with the artists, and produced by such venerable printers as Brand X and Derriere L’Etoile in New York and Coriander Press in London. We were invited to see some of the editions and discovered some quite beautiful, high-quality prints.' Art on Paper
'The most impressive player in virtual art market, Counter Editions is also the most user friendly.' Evening Standard ES
'Applying democratic logic to the world of art collecting, Counter Editions distributes low-value, high-quality work by the elite of the contemporary market. They have produced an impressive catalogue of work, made specifically for them by a group of artists whose original work is beyond the pocket of most collectors. There is nothing new in artists making inexpensive prints for a wider public. But because these artists are so selective about the context in which their work is marketed, it is unique on the Internet'. The Daily Telegraph
