'Be Nice' has been made exclusively for Counter Editions to coincide with David Shrigley's 2018 solo exhibition at Sketch, London. This new body of 91 unique colourful works encompasses Shrigley's distinctive drawing style imbued with dry humour, which cut to the point of human nature, making satirical comments on everyday situations and human interactions. Recurring themes pervade his story telling, capturing child-like views of the world; the perspective of aliens and monsters or the compulsive habits of an eavesdropper shouting out loud. 'Be Nice' will be installed for public display at Sketch from early March.

David Shrigley's hilarious and disturbing doodles, sculptures, and anecdotes depict the world as an absurd place. He embraces the paranoias, obsessions (stalking is a favourite theme), insecurities, moral conundrums, preoccupations, and anxieties of everyday life. Everyone is fair game for his humour, from the British Royal Family to his peers in the art world. From the childlike renderings and messy handwriting of his drawings to the spontaneous "public" projects documented in photographs and his playful sculptures, his work is anti-monumental and whimsical, but inherently sincere.
