Big Cat (2025) is a new series of extra-large screenprints that features distinctive, vivid colour combinations and blends, making each edition entirely unique. At the heart of each print is the infamous Pink Panther — an iconic and recurring motif in Bernhardt’s work — surrounded by swirling, spotted mushrooms, all suspended within the brightly coloured shower of the artist’s St. Louis studio. This larger-than-life composition is Bernhardt’s most ambitious print to date and embodies her bold and playful signature style.

Katherine Bernhardt’s (b. 1975, St. Louis, Missouri) boundless visual appetite has established her as one of the most energetic painters working today. Her trust in the fundamental underpinnings of painting gives her the freedom to depict anything she wants, and the democratizing surfaces of her canvases work without illusion, perspective, logical scale shifts, or atmosphere. With Bernhardt’s blunt yet lyrical approach, each painting has the feel of a complete thought that engages rich and raucous free association.

Represented by the influential David Zwirner, Bernhardt is a key player in New York's contemporary painting scene. She's collaborated with hip-hop superstar Drake, painted a swimming pool in Miami, created a public mural in LA, and runs her own Moroccan carpet import business. Bernhardt's recent solo shows include Hangaram Art Museum, Seoul Arts Center, Museo Mario Testino (MATE) in Lima, Peru, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, Lever House New York as well as European solo exhibitions at Xavier Hufkens, Brussels and Carl Freedman, London and Margate.
