Nicolas Party (b. 1980, Lausanne, Switzerland) is a figurative painter who has achieved critical admiration for his familiar yet unsettling landscapes, portraits, and still lifes that simultaneously celebrate and challenge conventions of representational painting. His works are primarily created in soft pastel, an idiosyncratic choice of medium in the 21st-century, and one that allows for exceptional degrees of intensity and fluidity in his depictions of objects both natural and manmade. Transforming these objects into abstracted, biomorphic shapes, Party suggests deeper connections and meanings.

Nicolas Party, along with four other international artists, were asked to create a print for Magic Breakfast. A third of the profits from the sale of each print will be benefit Magic Breakfast.

Swiss-born artist Nicolas Party is primarily known for his colour-saturated paintings. Landscapes, portraits and still lifes of everyday objects, are all pared down to simple volumetric forms stripped of all extraneous detail. For this new print, Purple Peaches (2024), edition of 100, Party depicts a bowl of peaches which are transformed through an imaginative, vibrant use of colour, and composition.

Available individually or as part of a portfolio.
